RELATED: One Piece: Best Villains, Ranked
This is down to the clever planning and scheduling by the animation studio. The limited filler content in OnePiece is nowhere near the quality of the canon episodes, but there are certain episodes that are worth watching as they are filled with humor and sometimes even with exciting fights. With that in mind, here are the best filler episodes in One Piece.
7 Usopp vs Daddy The Father! Showdown at High Noon! (Episode 50)
This episode focuses on the clash between Usopp and Daddy Masterson. While searching for his next gadget, Usopp comes across a pair of sniper goggles and decides to buy them. However, he finds out that he left his wallet outside the shop and leaves to retrieve it.
In the meantime, a young girl goes into the shop and buys the goggles, prompting Usopp to go after her. Usopp tries to persuade her, but she gives the goggles to her father, Daddy Masterson, who is a famous bounty hunter. After learning that Usopp is the son of Yasopp, Daddy Masterson challenges him to a duel.
6 Emergency Official Announcement! Notorious Pirate Ship Infiltration! (Episode 196)
It is the first episode in the G-8 filler arc, which many consider the best filler arc in the entire series. As the first episode of a new arc, it starts by laying the groundwork for the arc. The episode begins with the Marines at the G-8 base talking to each other.

While they talked among themselves, they were shocked to see the Going Merry falling from the sky. It didn’t take long for the Marines to figure out that the ship belonged to the Straw Hat Pirates.
5 So Long, Marine Base! The Final Battle for Freedom! (Episode 206)
The 206th episode of the anime acts as the finale of the exciting G-8 arc. In the episode, Lieutenant Commander, Jonathan reiterates that he managed to trap the Straw Hat Pirates as they cannot escape from the naval base due to the low tide. Unbeknownst to him, the Straw Hats had formulated a plan of their own to get out.
The crew intended to use the Impact Dial to launch the ship and then use the Fire and Breath Dials on an Octopus Balloon to get away. The Marines try to destroy the balloon, but Shepherd’s misplaced shot takes down the cannon of the Marines, and at this point, Jonathan realizes that the Marines have been bested and tells his men to lay down their arms.
4 Catch Them All in One Net! Jonathan’s Secret Scheme! (Episode 205)
It is the penultimate episode of the G-8 arc, and it focuses on the Straw Hats as they try to get their hands on the treasure located on the Naval base. They manage to find the location of the gold by asking Mekao, and Kobato, who work for the Marines. However, they warn them that Jonathan might be using the gold to lure the Straw Hats into a trap.

The Straw Hats ignore the warning and go to the location anyway, and they conclude that Jonathan must have placed the gold near his office. So, Nami and Luffy head toward his office and steal the gold. The Marines try to capture them, but they are rescued by the rest of the crew and the Going Merry, which has been disguised as a Marine Ship.
3 The Devil’s Fist — A Show Down! Luffy vs. Grount! (Episode 782)
This is one of the more action-packed filler episodes in One Piece. It is the final episode of the Marine Rookie arc, as the Sanji Retrieval Team makes its way out of the Marine base and goes to Whole Cake Island. Before they can leave, Luffy is confronted by Grount.
In the fight, Grount decides to go all out and unleashes the power of his left arm. The fight between the two is very exciting, but ultimately Luffy manages to defeat Grount with the help of his Gear Third.
2 The Memory Thief’s Final Counterattack Shows His True Nature! (Episode 224)
After getting his memory back, Zoro dives underwater to defeat the seahorse, which uses a special gas to make all the Straw Hats hallucinate. All of them begin to dream about the people that they have known in the past.
However, Luffy launches himself toward the seahorse and makes it spit out his memories. Delighted with his victory, Luffy and the rest of the crew tell the villagers that they got rid of the creature, who was stealing their memories, but the villagers refuse to believe them. The episode perfectly highlights that it is not always easy to be a pirate as not all people treat them kindly.
1 Z’s Ambition Arc - A Desperate Big Escape Strategy! (Episode 577)
This episode is part of the special filler arc that sets up One Piece: Film Z. In this particular episode, Luffy and Zoro went up against Shuzo and Momonga. After a slow start, the Straw Hat duo manage to turn the tables, and they come out on top in their respective duels.
The crew along with Lily, and her father, narrowly escape with the help of Thousand Sunny’s Coup de Burst. Overall, the action scenes combined with the story make the episode thoroughly enjoyable.
