Part of the beauty of the Avatar series, and now Avatar: The Way of Water, is the fact that the characters all feel so human. Their emotions are what connect to audiences; their love and their grief. With these characters, there are some brilliant quotes in Avatar: The Way of Water that deserve recognition.

8 “You Owe Me A Death.”
After being killed by Neytiri, Colonel Miles Quaritch has quite the grudge against the N’avi, and especially Jake Sully and his new family. Colonel Miles Quaritch may be in a new Recombinant N’avi Avatar body, but his stubbornness and drive for revenge fuels his new and stronger form.
In the final climax of the film, Quaritch threatens Jake and Neytiri and utters to the woman that killed his human body with two arrows “You owe me a death.” It’s an ominous and menacing threat from the man responsible for the murder of Neytiri’s son just minutes prior.
7 “I See You, Son.”
Throughout the majority of Avatar: The Way of Water, Lo’ak feels as if he doesn’t fit in. He sees himself as an outcast, both for his parentage and in his own family as the odd one out. Lo’ak is constantly trying to do his father proud, whilst also doing what he believes is right. This is what makes the death of his brother all the more heartbreaking.

Neteyam’s death is devastating to Jake Sully and his family, but worse still is the fact that Lo’ak believes it to be his fault. That is, until his father takes his cheek and says, “I see you, son.” This recognition of father to son is an emotional love between parent and child.
6 “Strong Heart”
After the tragic loss of Neteyam, Jake Sully and Neytiri mourn their firstborn, who died protecting his family. However, there isn’t enough time to grieve as much as Jake Sully would like, and he tells Neytiri that he needs her to be strong and to have a “strong heart.”
This quote is one of the many heartbreaking moments in Avatar: The Way of Water, and shows how the N’avi are at total war with the sky people. No parent should have to suffer and witness the death of their child, but Jake and Neytiri do.
5 “Let’s Get It Done.”
Ever since his human death, Quaritch has wanted one thing and one thing only: a rematch with the man that betrayed him. Quaritch spends the majority of his time in Avatar: The Way of Water hunting for Jake Sully. Toward the end of the movie, the colonel gets his wish and threatens Jake Sully’s entire family.
Jake Sully doesn’t take this threat lightly. He simply turns to Quaritch and says, “Let’s get it done.” The phrase is so still and calm, as if he is ready to mess this man up once and for all for what he has done to his family already. It begins a great fight scene in Avatar: The Way of Water.
4 “This Family Is Our Fortress.”
Jake and Neytiri argue about what to do about the people and their families. The sky people will not rest until the insurgence leader Jake Sully is dead, putting his family in direct danger. Jake holds Neytiri and tells her, “This family is our fortress,” another beautiful line of dialogue for Avatar: The Way of Water.

This line helps to show the relationship between Jake and Neytiri, and just how important these characters are to one another. They are entwined, lovers from across the stars, and their love story is one of the most beautiful in any movie.
3 “I Can’t Save My Family By Running.”
Just like the original Avatar movie, the film closes on the opened eyes of Jake Sully. However, this time there isn’t an awakening in a new N’avi body, but instead an awakening of what Jake must do to protect his family. Jake narrates, “I can’t save my family by running.”
It’s a great line to close Avatar: The Way of Water, as the film goes to the credits directly after. It’s a great teaser for what awaits audiences in Avatar 3, as it seems that it is finally Jake Sully’s time to take the fight directly to those that want to harm his world and his family.
2 “Our Hearts Beat In The Womb Of The World.”
As the Sully family learns the ways of the Metkayina Clan, they are faced with elements they have not experienced before. With the help of Tsireya, Lo’ak further learns the abilities that the N’avi are capable of, and how to attune himself to the sea. In a beautiful speech about the water, Tsireya says, “Our hearts beat in the womb of the world.”
It’s a beautiful phrase that rings true for all life. All living creatures are born on their planet, and their hearts beat within the said planet. Tsireya sees herself and all living things as the children of Pandora, and how they are still in its womb. It’s a poetic line in Avatar: The Way of Water.
1 “Sullys Stick Together.”
It’s no secret that Avatar: The Way of Water is about family. Jake Sully and Neytiri’s love story was the focus of the first film, so it is only right that the sequel, years in the making, focuses on these characters and their children. The family has a motto: “Sullys stick together.”
This phrase is uttered by all members of the Sully family, even if by Kiri begrudgingly. From the youngest to the oldest, it shows just how close they all are, and how each would do anything to keep the other safe. This family is the focus of the Avatar films, and for good reason.
