In the top 20 sold games there are undoubtedly some giant games that have not only had critical acclaim but have had longevity with players. Yet it is somewhat surprising to see Grand Theft Auto 5 at number 2 in this chart. The game was originally released in 2013 and while it achieved a great deal of success in the following years, it is impressive that the title still has players coming back and purchasing it. With that in mind, it may have been right to showcase GTA 5 at the start of the PlayStation 5 event.
It will be interesting to see if the game industry continues to thrive commercially during these challenging times, at the moment it seems that there is an eager market for titles. What is clear in this list is that Grand Theft Auto 5 has staying power through updates and its online experience and with that in mind, it will likely continue to be an incredibly appealing game.
