There is a good selection of sniper rifles to be collected in Far Cry 6. It’s surprising then that the best snipers in the game aren’t made up of the unique weapons that are hidden around the island of Yara. The downside to Unique weapons is that they can’t be customized at all. A weapon’s true strength in Far Cry 6 is dependant on how well it can be upgraded. That doesn’t mean that no Unique snipers didn’t make this guide. Here are the best sniper rifles in the game that are worth the player’s time and money.
Updated December 14, 2021, by Michael Llewellyn: Far Cry 6 has a solid mix of Unique and normal sniper rifles. The Unique weapons are usually variants of base models with improved stats. This makes them desirable to players that don’t want to worry about the cost and time involved with upgrading the regular weapons in the game. However, the downside of the Unique weapon is that it can’t be modified in any way. Dani can’t even add a silencer or armor-piercing rounds. It’s still a good idea to have a balanced combination of both types at Dani’s disposal, and this list has been updated to reflect the best Unique and customizable sniper rifles in Far Cry 6.
The Sobek Special
The Sobek Special is a variant of the.308 Carbon sniper rifle. It improves the overall stats of the 308 but the accuracy receives the biggest boost here with the gun coming with a ready-made 4x to 8x Scope. In addition, the Sobek also comes pre-modified with Blast Rounds making it very effective against vehicles even those with bulletproof glass. There is no silencer, however, so it’s better used away from FND bases and against any helicopters that are chasing Dani.

The Sobek Special is located at Bunker 2 in the FND Airbase, Olimpia. The airbase is in Madrugada, Northeast of Aguas Lindas
Follow the powerlines until they lead to a switch to open the bunker They will lead Dani to a ladder on an outpost rooftop. Flick the switch on the rooftop to temporarily open the bunker doors Instead of running towards the doors stay on the outpost rooftop and shoot the explosive barrels. This will blow open a hatch located at the top of Bunker 2. Once inside the bunker go down a second hatch colored in orange. This will lead to an underground facility with an office. Shoot the lock on the gate to gain access Grab the key from the shelf Use the key on the switch located on the desk to open a secret room

Yaran SR-A
As one of the earliest sniper rifles in the game, the Yaran SR-A is one of the most reliable and powerful in the game. It’s let down by the lack of mod slots but when it’s modified with Armo Piercing Rounds the Velocity is very close to being maxed out. The SR-A will be the go-to long-range weapon for quite some time in the game.
The Yaran SR-A can be found at the Sagrado Checkpoint on Isla Santuario East of Clara’s Camp.
Double Clutch
The Double Clutch is one of the Unique Sniper rifles in Far Cry 6. It is a Rank 3 weapon and has more pre-made modification slots than the Yaran. It’s not the most powerful gun in terms of damage but it makes up for this with its accuracy stats. It’s a Unique weapon so it can’t be modified but it does come ready-made with a 3-6 Zoomable Scope, Incendiary Rounds, and a Laser Pointer. In addition, the Double Clutch has improved draw and holster speed and improved preload of a partially used magazine. Its lack of a silencer does let it down, however.

Travel to Tranquila Beach in Costa del Mar Avoid the landmines and reach the checkpoint before the timer runs out Dani will be rewarded with the Double Clutch
The Transubstantiator
The Transubstantiator is a Unique variant of the SVD rifle. This means it doesn’t need to be reloaded after every shot that has been fired. It has higher damage and improved accuracy when compared to the original SVD. It has an 8x scope and it’s modified with the Vampiric Triada which has a chance of healing Dani when an enemy is killed. However, it does have downsides as the gun has no silencer and only comes equipped with Soft Target Rounds, making it weak against armor and helmet-wearing enemies. This in turn affects the rifle’s range making the original and customizable SVD the better gun.
How To Get The Transubstantiator
The Transubstantiator is located just outside the True Yaran Academy at the Noventarmas Cielo Gardens, West of the Botanical Gardens of Yara.
Avoid going inside the heavily guarded academy Go to the small manhole with a ladder near the water reservoir just outside the academy’s basketball court. Go down the ladder and open the crocodile chest which contains the rifle.
SVD
The SVD is another great customizable sniper rifle with good starting stats. Its design allows for good handling which means that it’s a lot easier for the player to readjust themselves between every shot.
In addition to being able to add armor-piercing rounds for deadly headshots against helmet-wearing foes, players can attach a silencer to make it one of the deadliest and most powerful weapons in the game.
How To Get The SVD
The SVD can be purchased from Juan’s Arm’s Dealers or the Guerrilla Garrison at one of the three main camps.
El Tirano
As mentioned above the Unique weapons in Far Cry 6 come with some incredible features that come with premade modifications to make for some of the powerful weapons in the game. The unfortunate deal with Unique weapons is that they can’t be modified in any way. For example, if one wanted to add a silencer or armor-piercing bullets to an otherwise great gun with appealing stats they can’t.
Yet, despite limitations, it’s still worth looking at the El Tirano sniper rifle. It has a low rate of fire compared to the SVD but for players that want a powerful and stealthy without going to the expense of attaching mods then the El Tirano is a great choice. It comes with armor-piercing bullets, a 10x scope, and a large silencer making it perfect for taking out enemies at long range.
How To Get The El Tirano
The El Tirano can be obtained from the Escila Fort in Vestosa Peninsula, Barial in Vall de Oro. It’s found in the crocodile-engraved suitcase at the top of the lighthouse via a grappling hook that is located at the end of the port.
MBP .50
As a weapon that’s intended to be obtained later in the game, the MBP .50 is the most customizable and powerful sniper rifle in the game. At its full potential, the sniper rifle is capable of shooting helicopter pilots and taking out armored personnel vehicles with ease.
It has great stats regarding damage and handling and a moderate rate of fire compared to the SVD but the power on this rifle when upgraded makes it one of the best weapons in the game. It’s very customizable with five attachment slots and two mod slots. It will, however, take some time for Dani Rojas to fully achieve this weapon’s power potential.
How To Get The MBP .50
There are few methods to obtain the MBP . 50 but the most reliable is by upgrading the Guerrilla Garrison to a level 3 and purchasing it from the storeman. This will unlock specialist weapons like the MBP . 50 sniper rifle.
