RELATED: Apex Legends: Best Legendary Character Skins
Though an action-packed shooter on the surface, Apex can be deceptively deep when it comes to the different ways characters can interact together to form some real team cohesion. A Legend that may not thrive too much on their own could be invaluable in a squad that knows how to use their abilities to their fullest extent. This list will explore many of the best possible squad combinations in Apex Legends.
Updated August 5, 2022, by Jerrad Wyche: With Season 13 of Apex Legends coming to a close, players are looking to string together wins and find real progress in ranked modes. The recently revealed legend Vantage will likely change the way the current meta stands, and in a game of 3-player teams, the composition and synergy between chosen characters can make or break a team’s success. Players like to know what legends work best together, and with legends being added to the game throughout the year, these combinations are constantly changing.
15 Wraith (or Valkyrie), Gibraltar, & Bloodhound
This unit can really excel — and not just because of Valkyrie’s arguably OP status. The collective abilities and perks of these Legends can allow teams to encircle, flank, and ambush unsuspecting foes quite effectively.
First, Bloodhound can be utilized to scan the area in order to scout it out and plan a coordinated attack. After this is established, Wraith can help teammates sneak near foes swiftly and silently with her Dimensional Rift. Valkyrie can instead blindside targets by swooping in with Skyward Dive. Gibraltar can then round things out by muscling his way into the zone and acting as a short-range fighter. This mobility and map awareness proves a great combination for effective rotations, while also being solid offensively and defensively.
14 Horizon, Pathfinder, & Wraith
The mobile Legend Horizon has proven a uniquely fun character, who can also complement a number of different squads. One great combination, in particular, includes the similarly nimble Pathfinder and Wraith.
This is a terrific group for teams looking to get around quickly while being fairly tough targets to hit themselves. It’s not the best defensively, but the evasiveness and mobility negate some of this weakness. Opponents can find themselves flustered when dealing with the grappling Pathfinder and airborne Horizon. Meanwhile, Wraith can cover more of the ground game and be an offensive presence.
13 Bangalore, Caustic, & Bloodhound
This squad is all about smoke. Caustic creates smoke that hampers enemies’ vision, causes damage to their health despite their shield condition, and slows them down when inside. Bangalore has her own smoke capabilities that create a veritable blanket of smoke no one can see through.

While these two characters may seem like they could hamper a team as much as helping them, when paired with a Bloodhound, that smoke becomes quite the handy tool. Bloodhound has two abilities to help him see in this situation. His Active ability will take a snapshot of enemies for the whole team to see, and his Ultimate will make the enemy glow red despite the smoky conditions.
12 Octane, Pathfinder, & Wraith (or Mirage)
This squad puts a heavy emphasis on confusing enemies and getting into positions that they don’t quite expect. Each of these characters excels in that in their own way, keeping enemies on their toes.
Octane can boost his movement speed significantly, and his jump pads allow for the team to gain new positions quickly. Pathfinder’s grapple line allows him to close the gap between himself and others with ludicrous speed and enables him to get vertical sight-lines the enemy isn’t going to be looking for. Wraith can use her portals to maneuver her team into a more advantageous position. She can get to that area without being harmed, because of her ability to go intangible. Mirage could be thrown in here for any of these characters, because of his proclivity for misdirection.
11 Bangalore, Caustic, & Gibraltar
Similar to the first squad, this team excels at cutting off sight-lines and forcing enemies where the player wants them to go. With Gibraltar in the mix, players can toss a gas canister into a Gibraltar shield, ensuring no enemy is going to push them out of the bubble. But where this team really shines is their Ultimates.
Both Gibraltar and Bangalore have Ultimates that can completely cut off an area for enemies, only allowing them cover if they can get a roof over their heads. Force enemies into a building, then toss Caustic’s Ultimate in to choke the enemies that are trapped in the building. With no escape from the Ultimate abilities, they should be easy pickings.
10 Caustic (or Wattson), Gibraltar, & Lifeline
With this squad combination, it’ll be pretty difficult for any enemy to push an unwanted engagement on the team. Gibraltar can keep the entire squad safe with his shield when need be, and Caustic can dissuade enemies from pushing into it with his gas canisters (the same can be accomplished with Wattson and her fences).

Lifeline can take care of any wounds sustained when the team was in danger. By the time Gibraltar’s shield drops, everyone should be back in fighting shape. This is also generally just a great survivalist team that can occupy and hold onto a zone pretty effectively.
9 Caustic, Pathfinder, & Wattson
This squad is all about baiting enemies into a trap. Pathfinder’s grapple lines can be used by enemies, and oftentimes, when they get a squad into a positional advantage, enemies will use them fairly often.
For example, use a Pathfinder grapple to get the team onto a wall at the airbase. Then trap the end of the grapple with Caustic’s gas and Wattson’s fences. Any enemy unfortunate enough to travel the length of the grapple is going to have a difficult time surviving the landing, ensuring enemy teams have a hard time pushing players out of their vertical advantage.
8 Caustic, Wattson, & Wraith
This works similarly to the last squad, except it’s Wraith’s portals that will be doing the trapping this time. The advantage to this is that enemies often have no way of knowing what the other end of the portal looks like, so they’re much more likely to fall into this trap.
While they do have an easy escape by jumping back through the portal, it does work to dissuade enemies from daring to jump in again. This gives the team some distance to work out the next steps.
7 Caustic, Lifeline, & Wattson
This squad works best when able to hole up in a building and wait out a circle. Both Caustic and Wattson can make a building a true hell for enemies to have to deal with, and most will end up staying outside rather than pushing in.

With Lifeline inside with her D.O.C. drone and Wattson’s Ultimate destroying incoming grenades and recharging shields, players can pretty easily stay in the building indefinitely — assuming the shifting circle permits it.
6 Bangalore, Gibraltar, & Lifeline
This is one of those good, all-around compositions that can be great for newcomers in particular. There’s no real synergy to work with here, besides Bangalore and Gibraltar both having Ultimates that can severely limit an enemy’s ability to move into an area.
With Lifeline’s revives and healing, the tanky Gibraltar’s defense, and Bangalore’s offensive prowess, one’s bases are largely covered here. All of these legends are solid, and together, they can make a tough, ready-for-anything kind of team.
5 Bloodhound, Mirage, & Pathfinder (or Wraith)
This squad is all about gathering intel. Having more information than the opposition means one’s own team gets to make smarter decisions, and each of these characters grabs intel in a different way. With so much info at the player’s disposal, making an informed decision becomes clearer and easier.
Bloodhound’s scans reveal enemies nearby, his Ultimate highlights enemies in his field of view, and his passive gives him tons of information on any enemy in his surroundings. Meanwhile, Mirage’s decoys reveal enemies foolish enough to shoot them. Pathfinder has the ability to find the next ring location, enabling the squad to find a good position before the enemies. Wraith is capable of warning her team any time an enemy aims at her.
4 Bloodhound, Wattson (or Caustic), & Lifeline
This squad is all about controlling urban environments. It works similar to the squad that included both Wattson and Caustic, but this time around, players will have more intel at their disposal with a Bloodhound.
His scans should be able to warn his teammates of any nearby enemies. When the party is in an urban environment like Slum Lakes or Skull Town, opponents will be in scanning range quite a bit. Wattson or Caustic should be able to dissuade enemies from having a good push, and the team should be able to keep control of the area.
3 Revenant, Octane, Bloodhound
Octane, when stimmed is the fastest moving legend in all of Apex Legends, and that movement in a first-person shooter provides a naturally competitive advantage. Add in a Bloodhound who is tracking enemy movement and constantly on the hunt, and that alone is a team that is focused on pushing and pressuring opposing teams. Revenant adds a level of control, that comes together to provide one of the best Apex team combos for aggressive teams that want to be the fight initiators.
2 Gibraltar, Fuse, Loba
Unorthodox team compositions may seem like something only higher-skilled players should be attempting, but sometimes they can truly surprise others. Fuse and Loba have their strengths and provide useful tools for their entire team. Loba provides access to so many items that can come in clutch when loot dries up.
Working through the best Apex team combos clearly indicates Gibraltar’s value as he ends up landing on many of the teams. The key to this combination is finding someone who likes playing as Fuse and is stellar with his abilities since they aren’t as user-friendly as other legends.
1 Bloodhound, Octane, Gibraltar
The idea of pairing speed, tracking, and protection may sound like an impossible task on paper, but it’s actually feasible in Apex Legends. Regarding one of the current best Apex team combos, the mix of Bloodhound, Octane, and Gibraltar is a formidable composition.
The first two are great at gathering information and allowing a team to position themselves in a way to create a clear advantage in any given scenario. Add in that Gibraltar that zone control while also protecting his team in areas with little built-in cover and this team comp being lauded as top tier is as clear as day.
